What to expect when you are expecting.

Well, I haven't posted in some time. As many of you may know things in the USA are not going in upward directions currently, many factors at play and too much to think about has had me in a rather story state for writing. But I have been recently diving back into poetry. So here I will share one with you, and hopefully soon we will return to our regularly scheduled programming.

What to expect when you are expecting, a mother's friendly guide!

Buy the book, and take a look at all the rules inside.

Expect to feel discomfort, pregnancy can be tough!

But think of all the lovely things you'd have missed if you had given it all up!

No early morning sickness, followed by deep intrusive thought.

No staring down in vacant horror at the baby gifts you've got.

No struggle to stay afloat! The true American staple!

No pontificating on if you are ready or if you are able.

The joy you'll feel when you cradle your child for the very first time trumps every expectation!

You'll be glad we made you choose it instead of highschool graduation.

Don't sit and wonder "what of the father?" It's such a waste of time.

Boys will be boys after all and we mustn't BITCH or whine.

How dare you raise your tone to him! He gave you such a gift!

Never mind that you said no five times while he was giving it.

Despite it all your finally ready for the opportunity of motherhood.

You don't need a life, or thoughts or feelings. They don't do a woman good.

'Shes only a girl!' your mother cries as they sentence you to her burden.

But she should have known better than to send you out in clothes they could perceive your form in.

A temptress is a temptress and she will get what she deserves!

The great gift of motherhood, and a traumatizing birth.

So when your lovely mother, forced to bear you too.

Holds your perfect child in her arms and sees her eyes are blue, watching as they cart your body back into the morgue.

She'll pray she has the strength to do what she didn't do before.

She'll close the baby blue eyes and turn away her face.

What to expect when she's expecting. One final act of grace.
